Birth Doula
Daytime Postpartum
Having grown up in the beautiful and lush mountains of Asheville NC, Sophia brings a grounded, calm, and empathetic presence to the space that they hold. Sophia trusts the inherent strength of birthing people and feels honored to care for them, as birth and parenthood is such a transformative experience. They believe that in the same way that flowers know how to bloom, bodies know how to give birth. Sophia's philosophy includes meeting each individual where they are at- they support all informed decisions that their clients wish to choose, while providing them with evidence-based research and support. She does everything in her power to uplift, support, and advocate for those wishes to happen- Sophia has supported medicated hospital births, completely unmedicated home births, cesareans, queer and trans families, single birthing parents, poly parents, IVF pregnancies, and more. Sophia believes that every person carries a blueprint of wisdom and strength within themselves, and their job is to help create conditions which allow that wisdom to emerge. With 8+ years of experience teaching yoga and a background in somatics, she helps her clients make decisions from an embodied, grounded, and nourished place. As a yoga teacher, she enjoys guiding people towards reclaiming their relationship with movement and their bodies, as well as teaching people how movement can help create more ease and physical + mental comfort throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. In addition to her current work, Sophia is also currently in school to become a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist, as well as an Integrative Lactation & Feeding Specialist. In their free time, she enjoys attending yoga and pilates classes, spending time with friends, gardening, reading, making tea, cuddling with her cats, and connecting deeply with nature. Sophia is committed to caring for herself, her communities, and the earth that is always holding us.

What families are saying

Sophia will forever be engrained in my heart as they were such a magical member of my birth team. Not only were they an amazing support to me, but also to my husband during the labor and birth. Sophia was soft and caring when I wanted it, but clear and direct when I needed it. After my home birth I went into the hospital later that night for some tear repairs. After a long night of supporting me through my labor into the late morning of the next day, Sophia did not hesitate to meet me and my husband at the hospital to continue to support us through this unexpected venture. Sophia is the whole package as a doula and my husband and I are so grateful. -S.W.
Sophia and I didn’t get a chance to meet before my son’s birth. She was the second doula in my team and stepped in about 1/2 way through a rough 48 hour early induction. We were originally on the fence about hiring a doula because I’m a health care provider and wasn’t sure I’d need one. But nothing in my flexible birth plan went the way I’d hoped and I can’t fathom what it would have been like without my doulas. Everyone needs a doula. GET A DOULA! Anyway…I don’t easily bond with people and I immediately felt comfortable with Sophia. She was calm, empathetic, and knew exactly what to do and say to support me and my partner. I’m struggling to find the words to express how much it mattered that she was there with me that day. But it mattered. A lot. And I’m forever bonded to and grateful for Sophia. 10/10 would recommend. She’s the best! -R.E.
Christine was a calming voice in the birthing room, and an advocate for me when things got hard. Postpartum she has continued to be a support person as questions have arisen.
