Sophia Medina

Sophia is a birth and postpartum doula with 5 years of experience and over 100 families served. She is passionate about supporting the sanctity and physiology of the entire childbirth journey from conception through postpartum. She is a mom to two boys whose births and breastfeeding journeys inspired her to doula work, aiming to ease and honor the transition to parenthood. She understands firsthand the challenges of new parenthood in the city, including feelings of isolation. She is a trained lactation and feeding specialist, and helps families troubleshoot any newborn challenges that may arise. Sophia prides herself in providing warm, grounded physical and emotional support, even when she is off the clock. Sophia specializes in homebirths and overnight support for families all across New York City and Westchester.

While she was pregnant with her first child, Sophia came to understand how truly spiritual the journey to parenthood is, and developed a deep respect for the sacred transition of childbirth. Sophia currently resides in the South Bronx with her husband and 2 curious boys. When not talking about birth you can find her gardening barefoot, sipping earl grey with a good book, or baking cookies with her kids.
Her intention is to be a source of information, encouragement, and comfort during your birth and postpartum journey. Through your time together, she vows to facilitate educated decision-making for your family, underpinned with warmth and humor.
