Ross Erin Martineau

Ross is a Certified Postpartum Doula and a Certified Yoga Teacher specializing in helping families transition into new parenthood. Her strengths include supporting families with infant feeding, developing their confidence and skills with a newborn, and encouraging them to ask for what they need in this special time of postpartum. She understands that a caregiver is not just defined by their role as a parent. Ross' goal is to honor all aspects of who her clients are and aid in making this journey into parenthood a joyful one. Whether you're navigating the ups and downs of new parenthood or just need someone to laugh at the absurdity of life with, she's your gal.

Postpartum Doula & Yoga Teacher
As a postpartum doula, Ross believes that postpartum is forever and to support birth giving people anywhere along that journey is an important and sacred responsibility. Of course, this can include basic but important tasks like meal prep, laundry, cleaning, helping with infant care and feeding. However, she also hopes to collaborate with the birthing person and (if they have one) their partner to create a relationship where they feel heard and supported regarding any number of issues around parenthood, change in identity and bodily autonomy, birthing story, feeding struggles, etc. Ross hopes to bring a deep understanding and care with a dash of humor to a very transformative and important time.
Ross has lived in Brooklyn for nearly 20 years. Before becoming a full time postpartum doula and yoga teacher, Ross worked in the fashion industry for 13 years. However, she always felt like she wanted to be of service and give back in a more meaningful way. With her B.S. in psychology and gender studies, she feels as if she’s found her way back to her original goal of social work, but on her own terms and in her own specific fields of interest. Ross also gave birth to her daughter, Frances in June of 2020 with the support of Baby Caravan’s own, Alaska McFadden. Her specific interest in postpartum support came out of feeling very isolated and not having the support she would have liked/needed as a first time parent during the pandemic.
Ross is currently completing Postpartum Doula Certification through Whole Body Pregnancy, LLC. Her approach to birthwork is inclusive and anti-racist. She identifies as a queer woman and she offers sliding scale fees for birthing people from marginalized communities. She has also trained in infant CPR/safety, and infant feeding and lactation support through Birth Day Presence. She teaches Yoga at Everyone Yoga in Ridgewood, and Kid’s Yoga at Brooklyn Flow in Park Slope. Ross lives with her middle-aged husband, her three-year old daughter and her teenage dog in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
