Paz Guzman is a Birth and Postpartum Doula, supporting New York City families since 2007. Paz is a DONA-trained Doula and Certified Advanced Holistic Doula by The Matrona. Paz has a deep understanding of the challenges and joys of the birthing experience, and she uses her expertise and compassionate nature to help women feel empowered and confident throughout the process. Paz approaches birth from a whole-person holistic perspective, considering the physical and emotional aspects of it. She believes that birth is an experience that is profound, intense, and transformative and that all women intuitively know how to labor and give birth under the right conditions. She is passionate about helping the birthing person to connect to that intuition, and help create the space to achieve a calm and nurturing environment for a positive birth experience with respect, support, and without judgment. Paz incorporates a variety of comfort measures such as massage, aromatherapy, acupressure, breath work, movement, and other techniques to help with discomfort during labor. Paz is also a Certified Lactation Counselor, Childbirth Educator, and Certified Health and Wellness Coach by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition of NY. Paz is also an apprentice herbalist currently studying Herbal Medicine for Women. Paz is a mother of three, and her own experience navigating the New York City labor and delivery system inspired her to become a Doula.

What families are saying

Having Paz as part of my birth team at Mount Sinai West was a privilege that afforded me a firsthand experience of her exceptional skills, compassion, and professionalism, enriched by her remarkable bilingual abilities and cultural competency. During labor and delivery, Paz’s proficiency in navigating the hospital environment, coupled with her ability to manage interactions with medical staff, was remarkable. Her cultural sensitivity and advocacy were crucial in ensuring that the hospital’s procedures complemented, rather than overshadowed, our personal and cultural preferences for the birth, striking a harmonious balance between medical necessity and our wishes Paz embodies a rare combination of empathy, patience, and strength. Her exceptional ability to create a positive, empowering birth experience, enhanced by her bilingual skills and cultural competency, is a testament to her dedication and skill as a doula. She approaches her work with a profound sense of responsibility, integrity, and love. Her impact on our family will be cherished forever, and I firmly believe that Paz’s talents and dedication make her an invaluable asset to any family seeking support through the journey of childbirth. -Arelys R.
We want to express our enormous appreciation and gratitude to Paz for her incredible wisdom, rock steady support, and loving empathy throughout our pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period. Paz not only share deep experience to take newbie parents from totally confused to super confident, but her knowledge of a network of experts to provide help across all aspects of the journey. Her support extends well before and beyond the actual birth. We could not have navigated this experience so well without her. Thank you. -Elena K.
Christine was a calming voice in the birthing room, and an advocate for me when things got hard. Postpartum she has continued to be a support person as questions have arisen.
