Luz Lorenzana Twigg

Luz is a queer full spectrum and postpartum doula rooted in traditions of nourishment and collective care. She practices with a lens of "auntie medicine" and is especially excited to support queer families, exvangelical families, and polyamorous families. Her journey with birthwork began when her dearest friend turned to her and said, “I need you to be an Auntie to my children. I need you to be there when I deliver, but I also need you to be present for my children when they are older and don’t want to listen to me anymore!" Since then, she has completed her training with Birthing Advocacy, is a certified birth doula through NYCDC, and is working towards a lactation educator certification. She is also a graduate of Marysia Miernowska’s School of the Sacred Wild with a certification in Western folk herbalism and is excited to bring herbal support to the clients who desire it. Luz believes that community is the foundation of all birthwork. Growing up in an intergenerational household, she learned deep networks of care and support from her family lineage. Together with deep listening, compassion, and nonjudgmental support, she is excited to empower families to make decisions about their birth and postpartum journey that feel good for them. She has an even keel and love being able to show up for her clients as a clear and calm voice amidst the overwhelm of the birth portal. As a lifelong dancer, she also has an intuitive understanding of bodies and is happy to provide comforting touch alongside emotional support and educational guidance.
