Jessica Parks

While studying to become an acupuncturist, Jessica completed an internship in Labor & Delivery at NYU’s Lutheran Medical Center, where she discovered her passion for birth. Shortly afterward, she trained with DONA International and, later, became a certified birth doula through Doula Trainings International (DTI). Since then, Jessica has supported families across the NYC area with warmth, presence, and deep respect for the birth process. She brings a unique, holistic perspective to her work, drawing on her background in Chinese medicine and yoga to support clients physically, emotionally, and energetically throughout their journey.

Birth Doula
Jessica has been supporting families through birth since 2017. Her journey began while studying to become an acupuncturist, when she had the rare and formative opportunity to intern in Labor & Delivery at NYU’s Lutheran Medical Center. After witnessing her very first birth, she knew immediately that this was her calling and enrolled in doula training without hesitation. Jessica is a DONA International–trained and DTI-certified birth doula who has supported birthing people in hospitals and homes across the NYC area. She holds a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and runs a thriving acupuncture practice in Brooklyn with a strong focus on fertility and perinatal care. In addition to her clinical work, Jessica is an 85-hour certified prenatal yoga instructor and regularly teaches prenatal yoga to teacher trainees. She has guided hundreds of pregnant people through safe and empowering movement practices, including her time teaching pre- and postnatal fitness at Fit Pregnancy Club in Manhattan. Jessica brings a deeply integrative approach to her doula work, blending TCM principles with nutritional guidance, movement support, evidence-based information, and compassionate, intuitive care. Her clients benefit from her holistic perspective and the emotional presence she brings to every birth. Jessica is also a mother of two, both of whom were born at home by choice. She hangs her hat in Brooklyn and enjoys camping, hiking, yoga, and tending (lovingly, if sometimes overwhelmed) to her ever-growing collection of houseplants.

What families are saying

Jess is a fantastic doula! From the first time we spoke with her, until after our baby was born, Jess brought a combination of her warm, supportive personality, deep knowledge, and resources about child birth to her work. Jess is a calm, patient listener who empowers people to make informed decisions that are right for them. She is generous with her time and knowledge during prenatal and postpartum visits, and follows up about questions and scheduling in a professional, prompt, and supportive way. When birthing began, Jess was calm, flexible, and thoughtful. She advocated for us to take our time in making medical decisions so we felt more ownership of the whole experience. She was listening and observing what was going on during labor in a way that we simply could not have, which allowed us to feel more prepared for what was coming next. In my particular situation, I unexpectedly needed to be induced to start labor contractions. While this could have been a confusing time in which I felt a loss of control of the birthing experience, I actually felt empowered because with Jess’ help I understood all the choices we were making. We highly recommend working with Jess. -Maya
Jessica was invaluable; having Jessica with us was the best decision that we made about our entire birthing process. She simultaneously knows what is normal and expected, and also how to help comfort and direct attention in all of the difficult moments. While I, as the husband, was able to help my wife feel comfortable some of the time, many times I was at a loss. Jessica, however, was always confident, competent and able to help keep the birth process calm and to help N to focus. It was because of Jessica that my wife looks back at the birth with fondness. I can't imagine a more valuable asset than Jessica's presence during labor. ~Craig
Christine was a calming voice in the birthing room, and an advocate for me when things got hard. Postpartum she has continued to be a support person as questions have arisen.
