Birth Doula
Daytime Postpartum
Originally born in Kentucky, Amber moved to New York in 2005 to earn her BFA in dance from SUNY Purchase College. After graduating, she moved to Brooklyn where she still resides with her partner and toddler, Olive Eloise. Amber has always been intrigued by birth work and would consistently geek out by watching reruns of A Baby Story on TLC and birth videos on YouTube. She was lucky and honored to be included in her friend's birth team in 2018 where she felt her first rush of oxytocin from witnessing a life come into the world for the first time. She knew this was her calling. Amber felt that her 20+ years of dance training plus her love of birth work would both aid in the intuitive care she deeply wanted to give to families during such a monumental shift in their lives. In 2019, Amber went on to train with Doulas of North America (DONA) to become a birth and postpartum doula. While DONA's guidance led her through her new career as a birth worker, Amber knew that more training was needed to serve every birthing person. She has recently completed her Full Spectrum Doula training with Birthing Advocacy to better serve a more inclusive community and is beginning her training in Childbirth Education. Amber is CPR Certified. As a full spectrum birth doula, Amber assists her clients in creating their birth preference list, finding the right care provider for their family, thoroughly discusses what care looks like to the birthing person and their team, guides her clients through comfort measure techniques, labor/birth positions, educates using evidence-based knowledge and above all, empowers her clients to be their very best advocate. During her client's labor, Amber uses her experience as a dancer to instinctually react to any physical needs of the birthing person, creates and holds the safe birthing environment her and her clients discussed prenatally, and makes sure her clients birth preferences are respected. Diversions from a birth preference list happen and Amber is dedicated to making sure her client's are well informed to make these decisions. Amber is passionate about protecting her clients and their birth teams in every kind of labor room. Birth preferences may never be concrete but she works diligently to make sure her client's baby enters the world in a way that the birthing person can be proud of. As a postpartum doula, Amber centers her focus on the complicated healing journey birthing people face after bringing life earth side. She guides new parents in early newborn care, helps juggle children adjusting to a new baby in their home, light house cleaning, postpartum nutrition and meals, errands, lactation/bottle feeding, and general management of visitors and space. Amber is available for immediate postpartum care as well as care once a partner goes back to work. Whenever unbiased help is needed. Postpartum healing is a long process and is never to be rushed. It is to be respected, gently cared for, and protected.

What families are saying

I was so lucky to have Amber by my side through the birth of my son. She was so calm, caring and attentive. The birth didn’t go at all as planned but I felt great comfort knowing Amber was part of my team. When my surgery was complete Amber was able to be my liaison between myself and the nurses and was able to get me from recovery to my room, keeping me comfortable the entire time. A C-section wasn’t in the plan for me but it’s the way my baby needed to come out safely, and I couldn’t imagine having to go through it without Amber as my doula. -Stacy
Amber was a kickass (wonderful) doula. She was thoughtful and attentive, always offering help and information and checking in to see how I was feeling. When I ended up in a very different labor than we’d discussed, she was the partner I needed to help me get through delivery and communicate my wants and needs to the hospital staff. She stayed with me until she was confident we were settled after 24 hrs of work and she was starting her third trimester at the time. She’s fully committed to birth work - a goddamn warrior. I wholeheartedly recommend her! -Shelley
Christine was a calming voice in the birthing room, and an advocate for me when things got hard. Postpartum she has continued to be a support person as questions have arisen.
