Amalia is a dedicated and compassionate doula, who is deeply committed to empowering every family she works with. Amalia's introduction to birth work began in a college classroom, where she learned of ways to get involved in the movement for reproductive justice. Becoming a doula offered her the incredible opportunity to engage with expectant families and do her part in contributing to the improvement of maternal health outcomes. Amalia completed her birth and postpartum trainings in 2023 with DONA International and has experience working with families from diverse backgrounds and with various birth and postpartum preferences. Amalia's approach and philosophy are grounded in her belief that families should be empowered throughout this vulnerable and exciting period, in ways that feel true to them. Her experience has equipped her to offer a comprehensive, evidence-based, and holistic approach; she provides families with individualized emotional, physical, and educational support. She takes great pride in creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment where her clients feel empowered to make informed decisions about their care. In addition to her doula work, Amalia devotes her time to reproductive ethics research as a graduate student at NYU. She has an extensive educational background in Black Feminism, reproductive history, and maternal health. She is always eager to continue learning to develop her knowledge and skillset. Amalia enjoys spending time with friends and family, trying new foods, cooking, and exploring the city. She is also a classically trained cellist and enjoys listening to music.

What families are saying

Amalia provided her birth and postpartum doula services to me in the summer of 2023. She was professional, timely, compassionate & easy to connect with. The package I chose allowed for assistance with my birthing plan, options to help induce labor, ways to encourage calmness during the chaos of the different stages of labor. Amalia was available to chat when I needed her, provided on call services in my high risk pregnancy and became a trusted source when I needed her. For my first experience with a Doula, Amalia made it worth it. I finally experience a labor and delivery and postpartum experience that was filled with support and positive energy! So grateful to have found Amalia and experience her knowledge of birth and her beautiful spirit. -Y.D.
Amalia was a God-send during my 3rd(but 2nd earth side baby) pregnancy. She was willing to work within my financial constraints and still managed to give superb care. She sat with me for 2/3 days I was in labor without leaving and made sure to check in with me frequently to ensure my needs and wants were met due to several stalls in my progression. I would highly recommend her to any mama in need of an extra voice & caring hands. -B.B.
Christine was a calming voice in the birthing room, and an advocate for me when things got hard. Postpartum she has continued to be a support person as questions have arisen.
