Certified Birth Doula, Hypnodoula, CBE, CBC
As a doula, Alaska believes in the innate ability each individual has to give birth powerfully, uniquely, in a safe and supported space and on one’s own terms. Coming to birth-work with an awe for what she believes is a powerfully transformative liminal threshold, she seeks to help create supported and empowering birth experiences. As a doula she offers physical, informational, emotional and sometimes spiritual support for the laboring person and (if they have one) their partner.
Before becoming a full time birth doula she lived in Brooklyn for fifteen years working as a visual/performing artist doing book arts, acting, trapeze, improv comedy, working in hospitality and earning a BFA in Creative Writing from Pratt Institute. She has practiced yoga, breathwork and meditation for many years. She brings a unique ability to connect with and support parents using a balance of humor and ritual.
Alaska has experience with high risk, induction, VBAC and home birth. She also has personal and professional experience with supporting neurodivergence and mood disorders. Alaska identifies as a queer woman, and is LGBTQIA+ friendly, as well as Trans/ENBY support trained.
