Postpartum Doula Services

Postpartum Doulas are formally trained and certified to provide mothers and partners with emotional, physical, and information support following the birth of their infant.

Prior to the birth of your baby, you may not know what kind of support you might need during this phase; you’ve simply just heard that it’s ideal to have extra hands around to help. A Postpartum Doula knows this, and comes equipped with information, tools and tips for whatever arises.

A Postpartum Doula is dedicated to the care of the mother and whole family. She provides evidenced-based information on topics such as:

  • Breastfeeding, pumping, and bottle feeding with breast milk or formula

  • Support for emotional and physical recovery from birth

  • Support bonding with your baby

  • Diapering, bathing, dressing your baby

  • Tips and tricks for infant soothing

  • Screen for perinatal mood disorders

  • Help you achieve your short term and long term parenting goals

Daytime Services

Baby Caravan offers daytime postpartum services in blocks of 4 or more hours.

Overnight Services

We also offer overnight services in blocks of 10-12 hours, anywhere from a couple nights a week, or 7 nights a week.

Combination or 24/7 Services

Looking for an alternative to traditional baby nurse services? We've got you covered. Our team of Postpartum Doulas are available to provide a combination of daytime and overnight services. They provide evidence based information for any recommendations, and support your parenting choices. Postpartum Doulas support the whole family unit, not just your infant. Many of our doulas are additionally trained in lactation support.

Families typically meet with and hire a Postpartum Doula during pregnancy. However, many families also hire a Postpartum Doula after the baby is born, discovering only then how helpful it is to have more hands on deck (regardless of whether or not family/other support persons are available). Some families feel most comfortable with just daytime visits. Others discover that night time help is most useful. Some find that a mix of days and nights offers them the most support. We offer support anywhere from a few weeks to several months. All and any of this is possible.

Please contact us at to discuss your needs further and to request fees for this service. Our goal is to offer you flexibility and we look forward to working with you to create a postpartum support plan depending on your needs and budget.
