Erin Spergel, MSEd, CLC

Following her return to work 12 weeks after the birth of her son, Erin Spergel struggled to remain engaged and excited in her professional life. She wanted and needed to continue working. She was proud of her BA in Psychology from Binghamton University as well as her MSEd in School Counseling from Brooklyn College. She was successful in her career and really felt that she was doing important work.

However, Erin also wanted to continue being able to exclusively breastfeed her son and at times it seemed impossible to do both. Her intention was to make it to a year and to reassess at that point. Erin made a commitment to do so. She told herself and her husband that if there ever came a time when she had to choose between breastfeeding her son and continuing in her career, that she would choose to breastfeed. She did everything within her power to continue breastfeeding and luckily never had to make that choice... she was able to meet her breastfeeding goals while working full time in a city wide position. However, it was not easy.

Having experienced New York City as a working nursing mother, Erin was inspired to support women upon their return to work and in meeting their breastfeeding goals from initiation through their return to work. In addition to being a Certified Lactation Counselor through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice, Erin brings her expertise in Small Group Facilitation, Adult Learning and Individual Counseling to the table.
