April’s path to doula work began after attending a Dancing for Birth instructor training and learning about birth and movement. Having a doula at her own birth and becoming a mother further inspired her to pursue this calling. April trained as a birth doula through Birth Arts International, and is working toward certification as a birth and postpartum doula with Manhattan Birth. She is also trained in Lactation Basics for Doulas, Comforting Touch for Doulas, and Comforting Touch for Babies. April has a B.S. in International Health and a Master of Public Health, with 10+ years of experience as the Program Coordinator for an STD/HIV clinical training center. She also loves dance and is a licensed Zumba instructor.

As your companion and cheerleader, she bears witness to your truth and strength no matter what your birth may look like, and nurtures you as you heal and embrace your expanding family. April’s goals are for you to feel safe and heard, to have confidence in advocating for your wishes, and to feel positive about your birth experience. Support from a “village” is essential during this time of immense transformation, and she is honored to be part of it in serving pregnant folks and all types of families.

April is a Jersey girl with Filipino roots. Her love languages are food that evokes fond memories, cozy leggings, and laughter that makes you cry. She lives in Jersey City, NJ, with her partner, toddler, and pup.
